POSSIBILITIES OF INVESTMENT IN HEALTHCARE AND

SOCIAL WELFARE FACILITIES/INSTITUTIONS

 

HEALTHCARE

 According to the Healthcare Act:

-        A special hospital may be established, in addition to others as prescribed by the Act, also by a foreign legal person. A special hospital is a healthcare institution for specialist and polyclinical and hospital treatment of specific illnesses or specific age groups which, along with units that the hospital must have, also has accommodation, diagnostic and other capacities adapted for its purpose. Special hospitals may provide health services in tourism in accordance with special regulations.

-         A polyclinic (an institution where specialist and polyclinic health care, diagnostics and medical rehabilitation take place, excluding inpatient treatment, depending on the purposes of its establishing, day hospital conditions may be provided) may be established, in addition to other legal and natural persons as prescribed by the Act, also by foreign legal and natural persons.

-      Wellness resort (an institution where preventive health care and specialist and hospital rehabilitation is carried out by means of natural healing sources – e.g. Bizovac, and may provide tourism services in accordance with special regulations).

-      An institution for palliative care may be established, in addition to other legal and natural persons as prescribed by the Act, also by foreign legal and natural persons (there are no existing palliative care/hospice institutions in the territory of the County)

-      A pharmaceutical institution may be established, in addition to other legal and natural persons as prescribed by the Act, also by foreign legal and natural persons there is a lack of pharmaceutical units in rural areas).


 
 

 

SOCIAL WELFARE

 According to the Social Welfare Act, a foreign natural or legal person may establish under the prescribed terms and conditions:

 -      social welfare institutions for physically, mentally or multiply impaired children and children with mental disorders (there is no such institution in the County)

-      social welfare institutions for children addicted to narcotics or other intoxicants (there are no such institutions in the County)

-       institutions for adult persons with physical, mental or multiple impairments (there is 1 private institution with limited capacity in the area of Našice in the County)

-      institutions for adult persons with mental disorders (there are two institutions with insufficient capacities in the County)

-      institutions for person addicted to alcohol, narcotics or other intoxicating substances (one therapeutic community has been established in the County for 30 patients – insufficient capacity)

-      reception centre for adult persons staying outside their domicile or habitual place of residence who are unable to take care of themselves or have suffered some other adversity (there is no institution of such type in the county)

-       institutions for elderly and disabled persons (although several institutions of this type exist in the County, capacities are lacking in enhanced care units, and there are no institutions of this type at all in the Našice area)

-       shelter for victims of human trafficking (there is no institution of this type in the County)

-       home for children and adults - victims of domestic violence (there is a limited capacity shelter in the County – additional facility for 10-20 persons is needed)

-       shelter for homeless persons (there is a shelter facility within the frame of the Caritas charity organisation for 24 persons which is insufficient compared to requirements – this is an area of inadequate legal regulation).
